Melvina M. Brown, Ed.D.

Goldey-Beacom College, 1984

Melvina M. Brown joins the DAG while continuing to enjoy a very successful career in banking. In 1984, Dr. Brown graduated from Goldey-Beacom College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and a Minor in Computer Science. She continued her education, graduating magna cum laude with an MBA and summa cum laude with a Doctorate of Education both from Wilmington College. Dr. Brown is a member of Sigma Beta Delta – International Honor Society for Business Management and Administration.

Dr. Brown’s financial career began as an investment accountant with Provident National Corporation in 1984 and has grown through experience with the E.F. Hutton Trust Company,  Reichold Chemical Corporation, Primerica Bank, and Meridian Bancorp.  From 1993 to 2006, Brown rose to Vice President of MBNA America Bank with responsibilities that included strategic planning and implementation of project initiatives associated with global technology, vendor management, financial management and education.

Today, at Bank of America, Dr. Brown’s area of expertise is supplier management, and she is responsible for the oversight of the technical contract labor commodity, representing 3500 contractors and a $400 million dollar annual expenditure.

Along with her responsibilities at Bank of America, Dr. Brown is an adjunct faculty member at Wilmington College, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. She is also the owner/operator of Eco-Scape Landscaping Services LLC.

In her spare time, Dr. Brown enjoys community service. She is an Honorary Board Member of Aids Delaware and has served as a Board Member for the Bayard House and the Rainbow Chorale of Delaware. She is also affiliated with the United Negro College Fund and The Executive Leadership Council.
