Dr. Gary L. Wirt
Adjunct Professor
Psychology
Dr. Gary L. Wirt began teaching at GBC in
1974, later joining the College full-time as
Dean of Students. He now serves as Vice
President for External Affairs but enjoys
teaching several times a year in the field
of Psychology. Prior to joining the College,
he had an extensive career in mental health,
managing community programs and serving as
the Executive Director of the Mental Health
Association in Delaware. He currently serves
on the Governor's Advisory Council for
Substance Abuse and Mental Health and on the
State Mental Health Planning Council.
A published author, Gary's fields of
interest include how industry copes with
troubled employees as well as "institutionalism," the impact of
psychiatric hospitalization on patient's
lives. He twice has been elected as a
Commissioner on the Commission on Higher
Education, and now serves as a Trustee of
the Middle States Association of Colleges
and Schools.Teaching:
