F-1 Students

June 28, 2021

For the fall semester, Goldey-Beacom College will be offering some of its undergraduate classes fully in person, or in hybrid format, with 50% in person and 50% online. Some classes will continue in the online format. At the graduate level, classes will be offered in both the hybrid format and in the 100% online format.

Undergraduate F-1 students will be expected to attend classes on campus in the fall semester. In the event that entry to the U.S. proves impossible, F-1 undergraduates should work with their Advisor to find a schedule that allows for academic progress while taking online classes from their home country.

Graduate F-1 students who received their F-1 visa after March 2020 must enroll in one hybrid course a semester in order to maintain their enrollment requirements. F-1 students who were on an F-1 visa prior to March 2020 may take either hybrid or online classes. SEVP extended their allowance for individuals holding F-1 visas prior to March 2020 to enroll in online courses through the 2021-22 academic year.

COVID-19 vaccinations will be required for all students attending classes on campus, or utilizing campus resources in person. International students already in the U.S. will be held to the same standard as domestic students. International students who are currently outside the U.S. may only be able to obtain vaccines that have been authorized by the World Health Organization (WHO) but not the FDA. Following the guidelines of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Goldey-Beacom College will recognize vaccines authorized for use by the WHO. Accordingly, international students who receive any of the FDA- or WHO-authorized vaccines will meet the College requirement. The College is partnering with ChristianaCare GoHealth Urgent Care to collect vaccination information from students. Please watch for an email from our student health and wellness partner on July 12, 2021, for instructions regarding the submission of your vaccination records. Masks will not be required on campus for fully vaccinated students, unless attending an event for which state or federal governance requires a mask. International students who are not yet vaccinated and have no means to access vaccines in their current location should contact the International Student Coordinator, Hannah Bakey, at bakeyh@gbc.edu to discuss alternative plans.

As always, check your GBC email frequently, and call or email your Advisor, Hannah Bakey, at bakeyh@gbc.edu or 302-225-6383 for assistance if you have questions.
