Students at graduation

DUAL-COMMENCEMENTS: 2020 & 2021

2020 and 2021 graduates – the time has finally come! The GBC College Community is so excited to finally celebrate your academic accomplishment and recognize that you have achieved greater!

Below you will find information for each commencement ceremony. In order to be able to celebrate in a safe way while complying with State and CDC best-practices and guidelines, our ask of you is that you pay close attention to the details presented. We wish that we could have fewer restrictions and be able to pack the Jones Center as we have in years past – but your safety is our top priority, and we have spent the past year planning for this moment.

General Information - Both Commencement Ceremonies

  • Multiple "mini" ceremonies are being held for each class – click on your class below for more details.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: What if I want to attend a different ceremony than the one I was assigned?
    A. Unfortunately, you can only attend the ceremony you are assigned. We have been hard at work to make your ceremony a safe and socially-distanced event and comply with State of Delaware requirements. As a result we cannot make any exceptions or honor requests to attend a different ceremony.
  • Q: Can my parents, friends, and relatives attend the commencement ceremony?
    A. Typically, graduates are allowed up to 6 guests at no cost and there are no tickets required. But this is not a typical year. With crowd restrictions still in effect in Delaware, we will be limiting each participating graduate up to TWO (2) guests.
  • Q: How many guests can I bring?
    A. Due to crowd restrictions in Delaware, we will be limiting each participating graduate to TWO (2) guests. All guests must have a ticket for entry to your specific ceremony.
  • Q: Can I bring my child(ren)?
    A. Absolutely! As long as your guest has a ticket they are permitted to enter the event!
  • Q. Will the commencement ceremony be live-streamed online for family and friends to participate without a ticket?
    A. Yes! Guests who are unable to attend in person can view your commencement ceremony online. As we get closer to the event, check back to https://go.gbc.edu/commencement
  • Q: When can I pick up my regalia and tickets?
    A:
    2020 Grads:
    • Tickets
      • Thursday, April 8th | 4:00 – 6:30 PM

    A. You will need to come ready to go! That means fully dressed in your cap & gown, and if applicable your hood, stole, or cord.
  • Q: How do I wear my regalia?
    A. We made a video below to help you! If you have specific questions, direct those to commencement@gbc.edu.
  • Q: Ok, I figured out the regalia and am looking my ABSOLUTE best! What about pictures for my followers?
    A. Rest assured, we have you covered! A professional photographer from GradImages will be at all events and will capture all of the special moments throughout both days! In addition, a GBC-branded backdrop will be available for you to strike a pose!
  • Q: Where do I park?
    A. Parking will be available on campus for one car – so we encourage carpooling! Overflow parking will be available in the Pike Creek Shopping Center across Limestone Road. Shuttles will not be provided.
  • Q: What can't I bring to the ceremony to celebrate?
    A. Please leave your balloons, airhorn, vuvuzela, fireworks and anything related at home – save that for the afterparty!
  • Q: Mother nature isn't cooperating – what happens?
    A. All of the ceremonies are happening under a big enough tent that weather won't interfere, so it is a rain-or-shine event!
  • Q: There's something else I have a question about. Who can I contact?
    A. Email commencement@gbc.edu with your questions! Staff from the Commencement Committee will be happy to answer anything you ask!
