The 2020 Commencement Ceremony had been rescheduled to Friday, November 20, 2020. Unfortunately, the current trend in the ongoing spread of COVID-19 makes a large gathering this fall unrealistic. The College has decided to postpone the ceremony again until the spring of 2021.

Frequently Asked QuestionsQ. Wait, so there is another new date for 2020 commencement?
A. Yes! The commencement ceremony has been rescheduled from Friday, November 20th at 11:00am to an undecided date and time in the spring semester of 2021.
Q.I paid the $95 graduation petition fee. Will I get a refund if I do not attend the new commencement date?
A.No, actually the fee is not used for the ceremony. The graduation fee is non-refundable as it covers lifetime transcripts, the cost of processing the diploma, and career services for alumni.
Q. Will I still receive my cap and gown?
A. Yes! Caps and gowns are in and will be distributed to students. We will be shipping them to your home address in the coming weeks, prior to the start of the fall semester. Check back to this webpage (go.gbc.edu/graduation) for the most up-to-date information.
Q. Can I keep my cap and gown?
A. Yes, you sure can. Once you receive it, it is yours to keep. Just remember to treat it well, as you will use it for the ceremony in the spring of 2021.
Q. When will I receive my actual diploma?
A. Students graduating in May 2020 and August 2020 should receive their diploma in the mail sometime in August or September of 2020.
Q. If I wasn’t planning to walk in the May commencement ceremony, but I’d like to walk in the ceremony next year, what do I do?
A. Be on the lookout for an email from the Registrar’s Office in the early spring of 2021 asking you if you would like to walk in the ceremony.
Q. Can my parents, friends, and relatives attend the commencement ceremony?
A. Typically, graduates are allowed up to 6 guests at no cost and there are no tickets required. With so much uncertainty now regarding crowd size, we will not know the answer to this until we are much closer to the event date.
Q. Will the commencement in the spring 2021 be streamed live?
A. Yes! Check back to this webpage (go.gbc.edu/graduation) for the link as we get closer to the event.
