Application to Graduate Deadline – Now Closed

March 1 is the deadline to apply for graduation. Students who do not apply by March 1 will not be able to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.

Grad Fest & Regalia Pick-Up – Completed

  • Requirements for Regalia, Ticket and Parking Pass Pick-Up:
    1. Complete an Application to Graduate by March 1. For questions, contact the Registrar’s Office.
    2. Complete the Graduate Survey. For questions, contact Career Services.
    3. Cannot have any outstanding financial obligations to the College. For questions, contact the Business Office.
    4. Federal Student Loan borrowers need to complete Exit Counseling. For questions, contact the Financial Aid Office.

Ticket and Parking Pass Information

  • Graduates will receive the following at Grad Fest:
    • 6 Tickets for entry to the Commencement Ceremony in the Gym
    • 1 Parking Pass for on-campus parking
  • Overflow Information:
    • Guests without tickets are welcome to watch the live-stream of the ceremony in the Event Center on Campus.
    • Guests without a parking pass are welcome to park at Faith Baptist Church where overflow parking and shuttle services to campus will be available.

What Time to Arrive / What to Wear

  • Doors open – 9:00 AM
  • Graduates need to check in by 10:00 AM.
  • Processional Begins – 10:30 AM
  • Ceremony Begins – 10:45 AM

Be sure to bring your regalia (so that you can participate in the processional) and staff at check-in will be available to assist you to make sure you are looking great!

Caps & Cork Information

Join us at Caps & Cork, the ultimate celebration for the Class of 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 2! This exclusive event, open to those 21 and older, promises a night of revelry and nostalgia with your favorite GBC staff serving as special guest bartenders. Reminisce with classmates and raise a glass to the achievements of the graduating class in a unique and memorable setting.

Arrival and Parking Information

  • Arrival:
    • Doors open – 9:00 AM
    • Processional Begins – 10:30 AM
    • Ceremony Begins – 10:45 AM
  • Parking:
    • Guests with a parking pass to park on campus should use the Stoney Batter Road entrance and will be directed by Security upon arrival.
    • Guests without a parking pass to park on campus should arrive at our overflow parking location where shuttles will be provided.

  • Admission to the Ceremony:
    • Guests with a ticket will start being admitted to the Gymnasium in the Jones Center when doors open at 9:00 AM. Seating is general admission / not assigned.
    • Guests without a ticket can view the live stream of the Ceremony in the Event Center in the Jones Center. Seating is general admission and is first-come first-serve.

What Not to Bring & Vendor Information

  • We ask that you do not bring air horns, balloons, or anything else that you think would be better suited for the afterparty. We’ll provide the celebration and the confetti!
  • Vendors and the Campus Store will be open on campus during the ceremony to purchase 2023-24 Commencement memorabilia.

A link to the live stream will be available on this web page during the day of the Ceremony for guests who are not able to make it in person.

Handicap Information

Guests who require Handicap seating and/or parking need to request accommodations from the Commencement Committee no later than April 15 by emailing [email protected]. Please note that the College does not provide wheelchairs/walkers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Photographers

Q: Is there an official photographer to capture when I walk across the stage?

A: Yes! Grad Images professional photographers will attend the event and will capture you walk across the stage. After the ceremony you will receive personalized information from Grad Images about purchasing your photo(s).

Guest Limit

Q: Is there a limit on how many family members/guests can attend the ceremony?

A: Yes. Each graduate receives 6 tickets and 1 parking pass. Graduates do not need a ticket – your ticket is your cap and gown!

International Students

Q: I am an international student and my parents/family want to attend the ceremony. Is there an invitation I can request for them to make the necessary arrangements?

A: Yes! Contact the Registrar’s Office for a Commencement Invitation Letter.

Diploma

Q: Do I receive my diploma during the Commencement Ceremony?

A: No. Your diploma will be mailed to you 2-3 weeks after your degree has been conferred. But, you will receive a diploma cover during the Commencement Ceremony.

Cap/Gown Pickup

Q: When and where do I pick up my cap and gown?

A: Grad Fest! Information on Grad Fest is located at the top of this page.

Cap/Gown Purchase

Q: Do I have to purchase my cap and gown ahead of Grad Fest?

A: No. The cost of your cap and gown is covered when you complete an Application to Graduate.

Oops, I missed Grad Fest…

Q: I missed Grad Fest, what happens now?

A: Contact the Registrar’s Office by Friday, April 19 to coordinate regalia, ticket and parking pass pick-up. The last day to pick up regalia, tickets, and parking passes is Friday, April 19. Day-of pickup on May 3 is not available. 

Commencement Rehearsal

Q: Is there a Commencement rehearsal/practice/walk through?

A: No. We’ll provide you with everything you need to know at Grad Fest and at Commencement Check-In on the 3rd!

Change of Heart?

Q: If I said on my Application to Graduate that I didn’t want to participate in Commencement, but now I do, can I?

A: Yes, but you need to contact the Registrar’s Office as soon as possible and no later than April 15 for us to make it possible.
