Undergraduate Admissions

Please review Goldey-Beacom College’s admission requirements for international, undergraduate applicants who are seeking or are currently on an F-1 student visa, including applicants seeking a Change of Status to F-1.

If the F-1 student visa doesn’t apply to you, please see the College’s admissions requirements for international, undergraduate applicants who will be attending under a different visa status (i.e. H4, L2, TN, etc.).

F-1 Student Visa, Including Change of Status to F-1

  • A completed, online application.
  • Secondary school transcripts and/or diploma with final exam or course grades translated into English.
    • Applicants who are transferring will need to submit official transcripts from all US institutions they have attended.
  • Proof of English Proficiency documented by a TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test scores with the following minimum scores: TOEFL IBT (Internet-Based Test): minimum 60, IELTS band score: minimum 5.5, or Duolingo English Test: minimum 90.
    • Applicants who completed 12 academic credits or more in English or who are applying from a nation wherein English is designated as a national language do not need to submit English Proficiency documentation.
  • SAT and/or ACT scores are optional, but applicants are encouraged to submit these test scores as they may qualify for a higher merit scholarship.
  • Financial documentation that demonstrates access to the Cost of Attendance as it appears on page 1 of the Form I-20. Bank statements clearly showing the name of the account holder as well as two-months’ worth of paystubs are the accepted documents for demonstrating financial ability.
    • Applicants may use another person’s finances to demonstrate their financial ability. However, a completed, notarized Affidavit of Support and Bank Statement must be submitted with the financial documentation.
    • The Cost of Attendance accounts for direct and in-direct costs of pursuing an education in the U.S. Therefore, the amount an applicant needs to demonstrate will be above and beyond tuition, room, and meal plan fees.

  • Transcripts/marksheet/academic records, detailing all post-secondary, collegiate work and the diploma or degree certificate. Documents in a language other than English will need to be translated.

    • Applicants who are transferring will need to submit official transcripts from all US institutions they have attended.
    • Any applicant wishing to transfer credits from an international institution to count toward their Goldey-Beacom College degree must have the transcripts evaluated by a third-party, education credential verification group, such as World Education Services (WES) or SpanTran.

  • Proof of English Proficiency documented by a TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test scores with the following minimum scores: TOEFL IBT (Internet-Based Test): minimum 75, IELTS band score: minimum 6.5, or Duolingo English Test: minimum 110.

    • Applicants who completed 12 academic credits or more in English or who are applying from a nation wherein English is designated as a national language do not need to submit English Proficiency documentation.
