Wilmington, DE – Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) will host its Second Annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the College’s Event Center. The event honors those who have served, and those who are currently serving, in our Armed Forces. The luncheon is free and open to GBC students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members. RSVPs are requested by November 7.
The program will open with the Presentation of Colors by the Delaware Military Academy Color Guard, followed by performances by the GBC Jazz Band, including the National Anthem. President Dr. Colleen Perry Keith will offer a warm welcome and introduce attending dignitaries, demonstrating the College’s continuing support and gratitude for the military community.
This year’s luncheon will feature two distinguished veteran speakers:
COL Murphy began his service in 1990 as a Cavalry Scout with the 82nd Airborne Division and deployed for Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His career has spanned roles as a Platoon Leader, Company Commander and Combat Advisor in Iraq as well as senior positions including Land Component Commander and 72nd Troop Command Brigade Commander within the Delaware National Guard. A graduate of the U.S. Army War College, COL Murphy has dedicated more than three decades to service and leadership within the Army and National Guard.
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Captain Doherty has been a member of the Delaware State Police since 2004. He currently serves as Director of the Delaware Information and Analysis Center (DIAC), leading multi-agency intelligence efforts to combat crime. Throughout his career, he has held roles in human resources, training and criminal investigations and serves on the Governor’s Cyber and Homeland Security Advisory Council.
About GBC’s Veteran Resource Group (VRG)
Established in 2017, the GBC Veteran Resource Group supports Active-Duty personnel, Veterans, service members, and their families. The VRG meets monthly to share resources that assist military-connected students and hosts guest speakers on topics relevant to the military community. Membership is open to all Veterans, service members and family members as well as students interested in military service.
