Wilmington, DE – Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) congratulates Hannah Bakey, international student coordinator, as a recipient of the 2022-2023 Rising Star award presented by the Delaware ACE Women’s Network (DAWN).
The honor will be presented by DAWN President Victoria Chang, Ed.D. from Delaware Technical Community College at the DAWN Rising Star and Leadership Awards Celebration scheduled for October 13, 2022, 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. via zoom.
The Rising Star award is presented to one person from each member institution. Criteria for the award includes a strong commitment to any aspect of higher education, community service and the promise of future leadership.
GBC President Colleen Perry Keith lauded Bakey’s commitment to the College and said, “Hannah has really involved herself in all aspects of higher education.” She continued, “She serves as both the admissions counselor and academic advisor for our international students, she serves as the College’s Title IX Coordinator, she leads a First Year Experience seminar, and teaches as an adjunct instructor. I’m excited and curious to see where her career in higher education goes next.”
Ms. Bakey has been with the College for five years and is currently the international student coordinator, working with undergraduate and graduate international students from the point of inquiry through degree conferral and Post-Completion Optional Practical Training (OPT).
She received her BA in English and Anthropology in 2016 from St. Lawrence University and her MBA with a Concentration in Marketing Management in 2020 from Goldey-Beacom. Currently, she is pursuing her MFA in Fiction at Arcadia University, which she is anticipated to complete in May 2023. Hannah is a voracious reader, enjoys watching horror, fantasy, and mystery drama movies, and listening to music and podcasts. Bakey resides in Wilmington, DE.
Founded in 1886, Goldey-Beacom College has approximately 1,300 students enrolled from 22 states and 65 nations. The College offers 42 degree options in its graduate and undergraduate programs with majors in psychology, economics, criminal justice, communication & media, human services, English, and all areas of business, including accounting, business administration, entrepreneurship, and finance.
The College is accepting students into two new degree programs in fall 2022: B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies; B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Business Analytics. Both were approved in March 2022 by the Delaware Department of Education. In fall 2023, the College plans to offer two additional degrees: Bachelor of Science in Marketing; Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Digital Marketing.
