Goldey-Beacom College’s Evans Receives Delaware SHRM Lifetime Achievement Award

Wilmington, DE – Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) is proud to announce that Associate Professor of Management, Dr. Nicole Evans has been named the 2022 recipient of the Ron Shane Lifetime Achievement Award by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Delaware State Council in collaboration with Delaware’s SHRM affiliated chapters.

The award was announced at the October 6, 2022 Annual Delaware SHRM Conference. The award is bestowed upon an individual who has continually shown outstanding service and has promoted the profession of human resource management throughout their career.

“It is very fitting that Nicole is the 20th anniversary recipient of the Ron Shane Lifetime Achievement Award because both celebrate strength and commitment – her leadership is an inspiration to us all,” said Jackie Poquette, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Director of Delaware SHRM State Council. Poquette is also the Director of Human Resources at Westlake Plastics Company.

As the 20th anniversary award recipient, Dr. Evans joins a group of outstanding human resource professionals including several (past and present) employees and one alum from Goldey-Beacom College: Dr. Pat Buhler 2005; Frank Ingraham 2008; Jon McDowell (alum) 2014; and Dan Bloom 2021.

“Dr. Evans not only embodies the criteria of the Ron Shane Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Dr. Colleen Perry Keith, president of GBC, “she exceeds it in important ways. In her work at Goldey-Beacom College, she encourages and motivates her students in ways that inspire them to embrace the field of Human Resources and develops them in ways that leave them craving continued professional development as she continually develops herself. Her dedication and commitment to the field comes out in her work and to be recognized with this award speaks to that dedication and commitment.”

Dr. Evans holds a Doctor of Business Administration and an MSM in Human Resources Management both from Wilmington University; a Bachelor of Science from the University of Delaware and is SHRM-SCP and SPHR Certified (Senior Professional in Human Resources).

Since 1974, Delaware’s SHRM affiliated chapters and State Council have provided members with professional development, resources, tools, relevant and comprehensive information, education, legislative updates, leadership development and peer networking to enable members to make informed decisions, stimulate professional growth and enhance workplace contributions.

Over 400 HR professionals, representing large and small companies in all industries, as well as individuals providing products and services to the human resources community, are members of the Delaware SHRM community. By contributing to the professional development of the HR community, they can positively impact the strength of HR leadership in Delaware organizations helping to make Delaware a place where organizations want to grow a business.

Founded in 1886, Goldey-Beacom College has approximately 1,300 students enrolled from 22 states and 65 nations. The College offers 42 degree options in its graduate and undergraduate programs with majors in psychology, economics, criminal justice, communication & media, human services, English, and all areas of business, including accounting, business administration, entrepreneurship, and finance.

The College began accepting students into two new degree programs in fall 2022: B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies; B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Business Analytics. Both were approved in March 2022 by the Delaware Department of Education. In fall 2023, the College plans to offer two additional degrees: Bachelor of Science in Marketing; Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Digital Marketing.

The College is committed to connecting its graduates with careers in their respective fields. For over a decade, the College has achieved a 90% placement rate for graduates. Goldey-Beacom College is located in Pike Creek Valley, a suburb of Wilmington, Delaware. The College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.
