Other Voices: Hello from the GBC Admissions Team!

As senior year is winding down, we want to congratulate you on making it to graduation! The summer before college starts is an exciting time, filled with anticipation and often many questions. We are here to help you make the transition into Goldey-Beacom as easy as possible, so never hesitate to reach out. As you begin to think about what the upcoming months will look like, there are a few things to keep in mind:

• Make sure to send any outstanding documents. The college could still need final transcripts, financial aid verification items, tuition payments, etc. We may reach out about these things over the summer. Your New Student Checklist from the advising department will also be very helpful in staying on top of any action items!

• Check your email. Quite literally, please continue to read the messages we send you! But also keep in mind that if you used your prior high school or college email address on your application, we’ll want to update that before they shut off your access.

• Reach out to your roommate. If you’re living on campus and haven’t met your roommate before, this will be a great time to get to know one another. It’s also super helpful to know who is bringing what shared items for your room!

• Start planning and shopping. There will be items that you may need to purchase over the summer – a laptop, textbooks, twin XL bedding for your residence hall, etc., so make sure to keep an eye out for any deals specifically for college students! Many large retailers will have promotions to take advantage of.

• Most importantly – have some fun! You and your high school friends deserve to celebrate making it this far together, so make sure to get to the beach, go to a concert, eat some ice cream, and make some memories together! You’ll look back on this summer as being an extra special one.
